If you use Apple's 8窶｢24 GC graphics card, you may experience undesirable output when printing with an HP DeskJet 800 Series printer driver. For example, unexpected lines may appear. You can prevent these problems by turning off the 8窶｢24 Accelerator feature. From the Control Panel, click the icon that depicts a rocket inside a red circle

After Dark (Berkeley Systems)
If the After Dark screen saver activates while the printer is printing, printing may stop. If you touch the mouse or keyboard, After Dark "checks out" and printing resumes. You can prevent this situation by accessing After Dark's control panel, and clicking the "WHEN" button. Then select the "System IQ Activity Monitor." This allows After Dark to monitor the computer and not activate the screen saver if the computer is busy (i.e., printing in the background). For more information, contact Berkeley Systems.
ATM (Adobe Type Manager) (Adobe邃｢)
Use ATM version 3.5 or newer for best results. Some earlier versions have compatibility problems with HP DeskJet 800 Series printers. For more information on Adobe products, contact Adobe Systems, Inc.

Excel 3.0, 4.0 (Microsoftﾂｮ)
Excel does not automatically copy color data into the Clipboard, either text or graphics. When you create a chart that has color data, and then copy that data to the Clipboard, the Clipboard will copy the text and graphics in black. If you want to copy the image from the Clipboard in color, you must first select the "Print Using Color" option in the Print dialog box. Then click "Preview" or "OK." The "Print Using Color" option is saved and the data can now be copied to, and pasted from, the Clipboard in color. If Microsoft Excel spreadsheets will not display in color, disable DiskLight. FileMaker Pro (Claris)
For best results, use FileMakerPro, version 2.0 or newer.
FreeHand邃｢ (Macromedia)
For best results, use FreeHand, version 5.5 or newer.
Version 3.0
FreeHand窶冱 Heavy effect does not produce accurate results. Instead, use true Bold to create bold fonts.
There are several incompatibilities between FreeHand 3.0 and the HP DeskJet 800 Series printer driver:
窶｢ Borders between the edge of the page and the image on the screen may
not match the borders when printed.
窶｢ Cancelled print jobs appear as partial print jobs in the HP PrintMonitor
queue.
窶｢ When using Preview on large tiled documents, the toggle between the
different view sizes does not work correctly.
Images are clipped if you set the Page Setup scaling size below 75%. Scale images within FreeHand instead of using Page Setup to reduce the page. For more information contact Macromedia, Inc.
HyperCardﾂｮ (Apple)
Use HyperCard version 2.1 or newer for best results. HyperCard 2.0 is not fully compatible with HP DeskJet 800 Series printer drivers and problems can occur when printing, including a system crash. MacDraw II 1.1 (Claris)
Mixed black and color patterns often do not print as you expect. In order to print color, check "Print Color Patterns" under the Print Options menu.
Rotated shadow and outline text does not print properly.
MacDraw Pro (Claris)
For best results use version 1.5 or newer.
Rotated text prints as black.
MacPaint (Claris)
Use version 2.0.

Microsoft Word 5.0, 6.0 (Microsoft)
Use version 5.0 or newer for best results. Be sure to turn Fractional Widths ON. Check your Microsoft Word manual to find out how. This will help to ensure print quality and prevent gaps in underlining. For more information, contact Microsoft Corporation.
Microsoft Works (Microsoft)
Use Microsoft Works version 3.0 or newer. For more information, contact Microsoft Corporation.
Norton Utilities DiskLight (Symantec)
Use Norton Utilities DiskLight version 2.0 or newer. Earlier versions were incompatible with the HP DeskJet 800 Series printer driver. If Microsoft Excel spreadsheets will not display in color, disable DiskLight. For more information, contact Symantec Corporation.
Now Utilities Now Menus (Now Software)
Use Now Menus, version 5.0. If you choose the HP DJ 800 Series (AT) printer driver from the Apple menu using Now Menus, version 3.01, the printer list in the Chooser will not display correctly.
Now Utilities StartUp Manager (Now Software)
If you use Now Utilities窶 StartUp Manager and background printing, you may not be automatically turning on HP Background Startup. If background printing is not on, go to StartUp Manager. Click on Scan. Click on Sort. Be sure that HP Background StartUp is checked. For more information, contact Now Software.
PageMakerﾂｮ (Adobe)
The HP DeskJet 800 Series printer driver settings for Page Setup override the Page Setup settings in PageMaker. However, PageMaker's Page Setup settings determine how the image will appear on the screen. To see how the PageMaker document will appear when printed, use the HP DeskJet 800 Series printer driver's Preview screen which is accessed from the "Print" dialog box. Persuasion (Adobe)
Use version 2.1 or newer for best results.
When you turn Fractional Widths ON, you will see a closer match of text and graphics alignment; your printout will appear closer to what you have on the screen.
Persuasion does not always scale correctly. If you encounter problems, use the scaling feature in the HP DeskJet 800 Series printer driver.
In Preview mode, patterns and gradations of patterns will appear more simplified than in the actual printout.
Photoshop (Adobe)
For best results from PhotoShop, upgrade to version 4.0 or newer.

Use version 3.0 for best results. Earlier versions of SuperPaint have compatibility problems with HP DeskJet 800 Series printer driver. When printing, always have the object or draw layer (the compass icon) in the foreground. If you do not, SuperPaint may crash during the print job. For best results, use WordPerfect, version 3.0 or newer.
